Match report This eargerly awaited fixture after the cancellation in 2008 due to rain. The day was sunny and Incogniti assembled a team of youth and experience to commemce battle, losing Furness and Padhini in the week due to injury, both teams rearing to go. Barratt the Old Leightonians skipper and Incogniti skipper Leighton tossed up. Old Leightonians won the toss and inserted Incogniti on a pitch that was hard and bouncy. Edmunds and Beecroft opened the innings for the Incogniti. The first to go was Beecroft bowled by Barratt for 4 runs, the score 5 for 1 in the third over. Copping joined Edmunds and in the 11th over Edmunds was lbw to Barratt scoring 5 runs the score 37 for 2. Joe Noutch joined Copping and the 18th over Noutch tried to hook a short ball and was caught by Moss bowled P Samuels for 9 runs the score 54 for 3. Nick Beecroft next in joined Copping and the runs flowed freely to all parts of the ground, Beecroft with his late cuts and pulls to leg and at lunch Incogniti had reached 142 for 3, Copping reaching his half century, both batsmen in command. After lunch Incogniti added 23 runs when Ackland-hood had Beecroft caught for 48 runs the score 163 for 4. Tom Noutch and Copping moved the score along to 172 runs when Copping was caught off a long hop by wicket-keeper Williams for a good 80 runs bowled Barratt. Whickman next in and Noutch took the attack to Old Leightonians bowlers with lofted drives all over Leighton Park. Whickman having scored 10 runs was caught at mid-wicket by Hayles bowled Price, the score for 212 for 6. Dugdale next in partnered Noutch and moved the score along to 261 for 6 when Leighton declared at 56 overs, Noutch 60 not out and Dugdale 23 not out respectively.

Old Leightonians openers Akland-hood and Moss started the ininings to the hostile bowling of Scantlebury and the medium pace support of Leighton. In the 4th over Ackland-hood was bowled by Scantlebury for 16 runs the score 24 for 1. Old Leightonians at tea had reached 40 for 1. After tea candidate Zahoor a leg spinner replaced Leighton and removed Moss caught by wicket-keeper Whickman for 25 runs the score 50 for 2. Powers and Williams move the score along, Scantlebury was replaced by Dugdale and his first over had Williams caught by Scantlebury at mid-off for 11 runs the score 77 for 3. Doraisamy next in joined Powers. Dugdale in his next over had Powers caught by Edmunds to a sharp chance at first slip for 16 runs, the score 81 runs for 4. Barratt the Old Leightonians skipper Barratt entered the arena and his first over hit two sixes off the bowling of Dugdale. Doraisamy and Barratt moved the score to 106 runs when Zahoor had Doraisamy caught at gully to a fine catch by Dugdale in the 34th over, the score 106 for 5. Price partnered Barratt for a while and at 127 runs, Tom Noutch in his second over had the troublesome Barratt stumped by wicket-keeper Whickman for 33 runs. Price and P Samuels were at the crease steadying the flow of wickets, four runs later Tom Noutch had P Samuels caught by Joe Noutch for 4 runs, the score 131 for 7 in 42 overs. Price and G Samuels continued to attack the Incogniti slow bowlers. Scantlebury was brought back to stem the flow of runs and in the 53 over had Price caught by wicket-keeper Whickman for 17 runs, the score 197 fo 8. Hayles next in was run out by a good throw from Scantlebury to Whickman, the score 205 for 9. Carter last man scored 8 runs when Zahoor had him caught by Joe Noutch, the score 211 for 10 wickets. A good game and another win for Incogniti at Leighton Park with bat and ball.
