Incogniti Cricket Club Won by 117 runs

Match report A strong side was assembled for this match and the word had gone out that the batting order would be determined by order of arrival! Imagine my delight when I turned up at 10.50 to see Sunny packing away his overnight tent!
Sye Razvi agreed to captain the match and started well by winning the toss and batting. Tom Mason and Harry Williams, a brand new Candidate, got us off to the best start incogs has had since Frieth 2013 until on 190 Harry gave it away after achieving a super ton (101) and Tom followed soon afterwards for 87 when looking like getting his first Incogs ton. Illy Krunic kept us the rate at number 3 and made an elegant 50 before Sunny came out with a few overs to go and bullied a very quick 30. So..... with tons of batting talent still in the pavilion, Sye declared on 296 for 4.
Not surprisingly, with such a huge score on the board, Incogs took the field in a very chirpy mood and Candidate Mark Cattermull was very unlucky not to get a wicket in his 6 overs of good pace and often unplayable movement and it might be said that a little more concentration in the slips and elsewhere might have helped. Tom Whyte (3 for 36 off 9) at the other end took the first wicket with a very good reaction catch from 'occasional keeper' Nav Saeed. OL's number 3 Ackland-Hood joined Marayanasary to take the score to a threatening 107 before the former was very unlucky to be caught at point by a Tom Mason 'blinder'; MM says 'what a fielder' (Ed says 'are you sure'?) off new young Candidate off-spinner Freddy Lyon (3 for 40 off 12) who, along with Gurpal Singh (1 for 43 off 11) gained excessive turn and bounce in their long spells to give poor Nav Saeed a torrid time behind the stumps! But Nav can take credit for having his feet in a good position to stumped OL's number 5 off his pads!
Marayanasary batted on well but got out for 72, and the door was open. Old Lieghtonians shows true grit and defiance once the chase was over and it took a bit of inspirational captaincy to bring on our opening bat new Candidate Harry Williams to bowl the last over but it took an absolutely brilliant catch at short leg by Indy Chakrabarti off the penultimate ball of the game to get the last (8th) wicket of 9 man Old Leightonians.
Everyone enjoyed the game and many thanks go to Old Leightonians for their hospitality and helping Incogs win by only having to take 8 tickets.
