Match report With Apologies to Caesar and Bill Shakespeare.

Veni, vidi, no vici (too many batsmen sat on their laurels).

After winning the toss, substitute skipper Bowry (Duggers had booked his flights for the wrong day) chose to bat on a hot sunny day with a hard, dry and visibly flat track, oh, and a vintage Aston Martin parked tantalizingly close to the mid-off boundary. Unfortunately for the openers, Adrian Beecroft (caught at gully for 8 after two scintillating fours) and Nick Wood (son and heir apparent Alistair witness to a quick 22) the pitch spat and turned.

Foresters’ opening bowlers Smith and Jones had us 53 for 3 after Sav Lara (19 but no alias) glanced unluckily off his legs to the keeper. Then Chris Copping (19), Matt Hoyle and Asif Padhani all depart in quick succession: "How do I dismiss thee? Let me count the ways." ….. and Incogs are 110 for 7. Then comes a (yet another) shameful run-out of a lame Illy Krunic……. even Lady Macbeth would have blushed. So…….118 for 8.

Fortunately Sunny Bowry and Nav Chaudhary put on 35 to make it more respectable. Then Chaudhary (lunch watchman) was bowled a straight ball and was caught for 33 in front of the wicket trying to cope with the spinners on a turning track. Bowry then closed his eyes to yet another straight one and edged to gully.
All out for 153………. it was never going to be enough.

The first sight of our bowling attack inspired Beechcroft to move his Aston Martin to higher ground. The ‘very’ Free Foresters despatched us in 26 overs; Incogs were hampered by Singh's fautly GPS, Padhani's masochistic determination to see the ball thwacked back over his head for consecutive sixes, Bowry's dismay at being both mowed and mooed, Chaudhary's dodgy knees, and an inconvenient LAW of cricket that prevented Whyte (4 for 49 off 14 overs) from bowling from both ends in endless consecutive overs.

A lovely day out at Henley, all the same.
