MILL HILL SCHOOL v Incogniti Cricket Club Incogniti CC on Wed 15 May 2013 at 11:30am

Match report
Incogniti CC won the toss and elected to bat, as is standard in this fixture over the years despite Mill Hill School's excellent bowling attack last year.
Peter Monar opened up with Tom Mason and immediately got us off to a flying start, Mason particularly strong through the off-side and Monar pushing singles at every opportunity. Relf and Kilbourne bowled with good pace but without luck until McDougal caught Mason off a rearing delivery from Relf. Leighton was most unfortunate to be run out backing up, and Bowry despite his claims to be in the form of his life, was cleaned up first ball by an absolute jaffa from C. Leighton. Gill and Monar, both of NLCC, steadied the ship putting on 50 runs as a run a ball. Gurpaul struggled to keep the scoring moving though as Mill Hill applied the brakes to innings, and it took a great cameo from Cropley coming in at 9 to raise the score to a respectable 235 from 47 overs. His 38 from 45 balls included some mighty blows over midwicket.
In defence of the 235, Incogniti opened up with Wakeford and Cropley. Both kept the runs down but caused few problems, with Harley, Avent and Relf all batting with good application and skill. It was the introduction of spin-twins (twins in the sense of Schwarzenegger and DeVito here!) Gurpaul and Phil Arnould who got the breakthroughs of Incogniti. They both spun the ball appreciably and were rewarded with six wickets between them. Despite the middle-order collapse, T Harley held on resolutely for the draw, Mill Hill finishing on 190 for 8 from 47 overs.
A strong performance that was unfortunately not capped with a win, but Mill Hill School performed admirably and at 140-1 looked well on course to steal the game themselves.
