Match report This is just an interim match report because I do not even have the scoresheet to refer to because our Keeper of Scores and Averages was kind enough, because of his enjoyment of the game to write the full report for our Yearbook.

A great game of cricket! We batted first and the school side started very defensively and progressed even more defensively making it hard to reach a score on which to declare on a decent slow wicket. We declared on 200 for 7 with fine innings from Ashley Leat with 60+ and Owen Oldroyd 44 (with a cracked rib!) plus good contributions from Nav Chaudhry and candidate Oliver (marathon man) Thorne. After a quality tea, the boys made a steady with an attacking Incogs field, helped though by a couple of missed chances (illy and myself) and at 120 odd for 3 needing 6 an over for the last 12 overs, all the money was going on a school win; but with some persisitant bowling, brilliant feilding, especially from Chaudry, canny bowling changes and field setting (even though I say it myself); we not only held the school to a very exciting draw that had all our supporters standing up on their walking sticks but had we taken a run out chance (it would have been our third!!!) we would have had one ball at their young number 11 ..... not to be though, as the school ended up 197 for 8. A wonderful days cricket which I hope taught the boys that 'proper cricket can often be more fun than limited overs bashes. It was a great start to the Incogs cricket season. Cheers Duggers
