Match report
Match Report 2012
Incogniti CC v Royal Household 17th June 2012
In Jubilee year we were fortunate there was a break in the weather so we could play this fixture in the grounds of Windsor. The wicket was green and so on winning the toss Incogs elected to have first go with the new ball, and Whyte and Gibbs bowled very tight lines to restrict scoring opportunities. The pressure soon told as Gibbs managed to swing the ball past the bat three times in quick succession to make inroads into the RHCC top order.
Allen – Turner showed more ambition to play shots and move the scoreboard on but was soon found out by the flight and guile of Arnould, and a tremendous catch by Nick Wood back pedalling at Mid On. The highlight of the fielding display was without doubt seeing a horizontal Paul Furness taking off at mid wicket to get a hand to the ball hit hard in that direction, a spectacular effort made but still fined for a dropped catch!
Incogs dismissed the tail quickly so were straight out to bat before tea. Parker looked like the pick of the bowlers and was pushing the ball through at decent pace with nice shape to keep Ritchie and King honest, before one that nipped back found King bang in front.
Lewis and Wood showed intent after tea to take on the bowling and Lewis found the boundary with a couple of nice strikes in front of the future wife. Despite a couple of quick wickets to prompt some panic in the dressing room for those already changed into blazers Smith and Gibbs batted without concern to wrap up the Incogniti win.
